The procedure itself is a single day at the Manchester clinic under local anaesthetic, and you travel home the same evening.

Procedure day
Ninety miles up the line
Surgery takes place at the Salford clinic, around ninety miles north. By rail it is comfortably under two hours from New Street; by car it is a straightforward run up the M6, with parking on site at the other end.
Because the procedure runs as a single day under local anaesthetic, the overwhelming majority of Midlands patients travel up in the morning and home the same evening. There is no general anaesthetic to recover from and no overnight requirement.
